My name is Jeroen and I’m a Dutch nutcase with a somewhat expensive hobby/addiction. Born in 1987 and thanks to my
dad, completely addicted to motorcycles. He injected me with the virus when I was 4 years old by getting a motorcycle with sidecar. And 2 years later, when my sister turned 4 (me 6), he got a Moto Guzzi California III with a 2 seater sidecar (which he still owns, together with his Norton Commando 850mk3 and Moto Guzzu Sport 1100). Almost all of our hollidays were with a motorcycle, I can just about remember 3 or 4 where a car was involved.
I always loved the idea of travelling by motorcycle and often said that I wanted to do a world trip. So far I’ve ridden to the Algarve on my Guzzi V50 and my dad on his Norton. I’ve been on a pilgrimage to the Guzzi factory in Mandello and did a trip through Great Britain. Met a great Canadian family in Doune castle (where Monty Python and the Holy Grail was shot). The sons actually went up to the castle doors with coconuts like in the movie.
Now that I`m in New Zealand, the whole world trip idea came back to me. I will be trying to do the following: Travel through NZ and eventually try to make my way back to Europe through other continents on a tiny Moto Guzzi V50 which has been used by the Dutch army. Or…. do it the other way around and ride back to this corner of the world with one of my other bikes from NL.
